"Uh-oh"

Recently Lila has gotten into the funny habit of putting her hands out, palms facing up, and saying "uh-oh". I don't know where she got it, since we don't do that. But it's funny to see her do it. In the video she's saying uh-oh, but not not with the hands. I'm hoping I can get some of her with the hands too, but when I point the camera at her she usually stops what she's doing. She's started bouncing to music as well. She LOVES the Latino Pop station we have as part of our cable TV. I thought I was being this good mom and putting on the classical music station, and one day I ended up on the Latino Pop station by accident. She smiled right away and started to bounce. She won't do it for when I turn on any of the other stations though.
She's growing so fast! I'm starting to think about her first birthday and feeling both sad and excited. We bought a couple gifts for her already and I am so excited about one of them that I don't know how I'm going to be able to hold out until her birthday.

I bought Lila two pairs of baby leg warmers called Baby Legs and I love them! I haven't really been dressing her in shorts or dresses since Novemeber when she started crawling because it's so hard on her bare legs. These things are so cute, and I can put them on her with just about anything and not have her legs get torn up from crawling and falling down.

She loves riding on our shoulders. She just laughs and smiles and really likes to look at us in the mirror.

Combed hair

I actually attempted to comb Lila's crazy hair into something that didn't stick up after her bath this morning. She looks like a totally different baby! I think I like the spikey hair better. It stayed like this until it dried and then random pieces started to stick up again. We'll have to wait until it gets a bit longer before we try to "style" it.

Valentine's Day

We went to dinner at McCormick and Schmick's last night. We made an early reservation so we wouldn't have a problem bringing Lila with us. This is the third year in a row we've gone there for Valentine's Day. Each year they have this dessert called the Chocolate Bag (they may have it all year actually, I don't know). It's like a small paper bag, but made of chocolate and they fill it with white chocolate moose and top it with fresh berries. It's fantastic! I meant to take a picture of it last night, but forgot the camera. I found a picture online though.

I got a very nice gift from Roman and Lila as well. I don't have a good purse that's large enough to fit all my stuff in it, so I'm hoping this one is--need to transfer everything and see.

LOVE IT!!

My gift...and it's red, so appropriate for V-day.

1st Valentine's Day

It stormed the other day and after the rain the sun came out and there was this rainbow that ran across the entire sky. You can see a bit of it between the trees.

The park

The weather was beautiful this weekend, sunny and warm, so we decided to take Lila to the park. We live within walking distance of big park here that has some trails and soccer fields. We tried the swings and the slide, and she was not enthused about any of it. She enjoyed sitting in her stroller, staring at Manolo walking next to her, more than she liked the park. None the less, I had to take pictures.

Roman got in one of the big swings with her in his lap and swung, and she didn't like that any better.

She was talking to the leaves and then trying to put them in her mouth.
I think this was the only smile we got out of her.

Not my best idea

So, feeding Lila beets was definitely not the best idea I've ever had. She loved them, but it was such a mess!

I stripped her down so none of her clothes would get stained. She's looking at the food on the counter and doing "more" with her hands. I'm teaching her some basic sign language and she goes "more" over and over when she sees the food, even if I haven't given her any yet.

I think it looks like she has bad clown make-up on.

Official first step

She took her first step on her own yesterday. She wanted to get from the couch to the coffee table, but they were too far apart for her to reach. So she put one foot infront of the other and took a wobbly step, and then grabbed the table. She's tried to take a step before, but she always falls. I'm hoping we'll still have a little more time before she starts truly walking.

After her big step

Rug-burn (and this is much improved from how it looked over the weekend)

Mama got the first word

On Wednesday night Roman was upstairs getting Lila ready for bed. He said "Tell Mama we're all ready." And Lila said "Mama". He repeated Mama and she said it one more time. Up until now she'll just say something like ma mam muh muh, etc.

We had our first 'incident' today and Lila got some rug burn on her nose. I forgot to close the baby gate and she got right to the edge of the step before I saw her. I ran to grab her, but when she sees you coming she tries to get away, so she went head first off the step. She landed on her face and I got her as soon as she hit. Luckily there are only two steps where she fell and then a landing.
